South Bend United Methodist Church

South Bend United Methodist Church towers over Highway 101, but is easy to reach. This third church building houses a community with a long history of worshipin the area.
The first South Bend church was built in 1875 "at the sawmill in South Bend". The second opened in 1890, but was located so high on a hill above the Willapa River that the arduous climb to reach it impacted deterred attendance. Its replacement opened in 1905 and is just a short walk up from Highway 101, with a pleasant parking lot allowing easy access for all.
Music is an integral part of the worship experience, with trained and talented musicians tickling the ivories on both piano and organ. A third friend who plays brass horn instruments frequently joins in making musical 'joyful noise', filling the sanctaury with beautiful harmonies.
Inspired by the Holy Spirit, this traditional worship community touches the lives of many on the south bend of the Willapa River.
